Mike Danneman railroad art

Santa Fe's Super Chief on Raton Pass, New Mexico
We first noticed Mike Danneman's name when his work featured on the covers of some of the American railway books we handled when we began in the mid-1980s.  Since the early 1980s he has been fortunate to be able to indulge his passions and talents, most of which are centred around trains, particularly those that have traversed the Rocky Mountains. As well as photographing and painting them, he was an art director for Kalmbach Publishing and has built a large Rio Grande model layout.

His painting style is strictly representational, which is generally what book non-fiction publishers want, but manages to evoke the grandeur of his subjects very successfully - website
